Who is the Course For?

This superb-value online course is a cost and time effective gateway to maths A Level success for anyone who wants to build on their GCSE level knowledge without enrolling in a traditional route to passing exams such as a college course. All study is undertaken independently and online, making it easy to make learning work alongside existing commitments.

What Will I Learn?

The comprehensive, easy-to-engage with course content contains all you need to know to get exam ready for both the AS and A2 Maths exams. Not only will you gain the skillset to pass the exams, you will develop your understanding of maths in a way that promotes confidence and enjoyment. What’s more, you will also gain the ability to take increasing responsibility for your own learning and the evaluation of your own mathematical development.

Edexcel, BTEC and LCCI qualifications

This course is delivered in accordance to Edexcel guidelines. Edexcel, BTEC and LCCI qualifications are awarded by Pearson, the UK’s largest awarding body offering academic and vocational qualifications that are globally recognised and benchmarked.

KEY LEARNING POINTS

Progress through the detailed AS lessons before moving on to the A2 content.

AS Single Maths

  • Explore the introduction which includes information on which books it’s advisable to buy to aid your study.
  • Move on to learning about algebra and functions, quadratic functions, equations and inequalities, sketching curves, coordinate geometry in the (x,y) plane, sequences and series, differentiation and integration before testing knowledge with a mock exam paper.
  • Explore the sine and cosine rule, exponentials and logarithms, coordinate geometry in the (x,y) plane, the binomial expansion, radian measure and its applications, geometric sequences and series, graphs of trigonometric functions, differentiation, trigonometrical identities and simple equations and integration before testing knowledge.
  • Find out about mathematical models in mechanics, kinematics of a particle moving in a straight line, dynamics of a particle moving in straight line, statics of a particle, moments and vectors before sitting a practice exam.
  • Extend their range of mathematical skills and techniques and use them in more dificult, unstructured problems.
  • Develop an understanding of coherence and progression in mathematics and of how different areas of mathematics can be connected.
  • Recognise how a situation may be represented mathematically and understand the relationship between ‘real-world’ problems and standard and other mathematical models and how these can be re ned and improved.

A2 Single Maths

  • Learn about algebraic fractions, functions, exponential and log functions, numerical methods, transforming graphs of functions, trigonometry, further trigonometric identities and their applications and differentiation.
  • Tackle partial fractions, coordinate geometry in (x,y) plane, the binomial expansion and differentiation.
  • Explore vectors and integration before sitting the test paper.
  • Move on to mathematical models in probability and statistics and representation and summary of data in relation to location and measures of dispersion before taking a closer look at representation of data.
  • Find out about probability, correlation, regression, discrete random variables and normal distribution.
  • Such use may be inappropriate and be aware of limitations.
  • Develop an awareness of the relevance of mathematics to other elds of study, to the world of work and to society in general.
  • Take increasing responsibility for their own learning and the evaluation of their own mathematical development. The knowledge, understanding and skills required for all Mathematics speci cations are contained in the subject core. The units C1, C2, C3 and C4 comprise this core material.
